Who is A + R Photography?

We are an exclusive duo of professional photographers that specialize in weddings only. We also happen to be brother and sister. Our name, A "plus" R Photography, symbolizes our names: Aimee Cooper and Riley Kimball but also our slogan: Aesthetic and Refined. We are both lifelong artists have fine tuned our photography skills to an art form. Our photos are a study of beauty and emotion, built around your love, your connection with each other.  We give our whole heart to this work.  It is our passion.

How is A + R Photography different?

We are a highly sought-after photographer duo that offers complete documentation of your wedding day. Since your event will be shot by two qualified and skilled photographers, even the tiniest detail will be recorded. We specialize in both the candid, photojournalistic shots as well as fine art imagery. The result is a perfect balance of images that tell a story -- your story.

We also offer two unique services. Since many shots are completed digitally, we are able to show your wedding photos in a slideshow at the reception. This allows you to see your proofs even before the honeymoon and allows your guests to share them with you. (Consider that most guests will never even see your wedding photos.)

What qualifications do you hold?

Together, Aimee and Riley have a combined experience of over 26 years. Aimee is a Member of the Professional Photographers Association (PPA) and the Wedding and Portrait Professionals (WPPI.) She is also associated with the National Association of Photoshop Professionals.  Riley is a Member of American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) and WPPI.

Both attend frequent continuing education courses and seminars as well as industry trade events. But our greatest qualification is the legion of awestruck clients we have had the pleasure of working with and the albums that they will cherish for years.

What type of photos do you take?

Each bride and groom is perfectly unique.  Each day we capture is like no other.  We immerse ourselves in your experiences as they happen.  The imagery flows freely as the moments unfold before our lens.  We consider ourselves blessed to witness the most beautiful moments of your life.

We plan, scout and research for each location. We have an extensive discussion prior to the wedding in order to determine exactly what your vision is.  Since your wedding will be shot by two photographers, you can expect complete coverage. While the traditional and artistic shots are being taken, more candid and informal shots can be captured by the other.

Our Portfolio shows the kind of artwork we capture. From the butterflies and tears to the spontaneous moments and intricate details, you can be assured we will capture your complete day in living color, for a life time.

Each image is also hand mastered and retouched in order to bring out the beauty of each one-of-a-kind image.

What is the process like?

We can only provide this incredible experience if we get to know you. This is why we always spend time with you before, through unique engagement sessions. It allows us to work together and learn your style, energy and personality.  Once we have gotten to know each other the images simply flow, with ease.

We tailor our approach to your specific personality and style. We are honored to be invited into your inner sanctum on such a monumental day and we are determined to secure every precious moment for you and your family.

We capture all those details you have come to expect--the preparation, the wedding party, the smiles and tears, the ceremony and the pomp and circumstance of the reception. But we are also able to capture a tender embrace, a secret smile, a special dance or a spontaneous event.

When should I schedule my photography?

It is recommended that you book your photographer before anything else. In order to offer our extensive level of service, we limit the amount of dates we commit to each year. Popular dates are often booked 18 to 24 months in advance. Please contact us at your earliest convenience.

A non-refundable deposit, one third of your total package, is required in order to secure your date.

What equipment do you use?

We use Canon Professional Digital SLRs, and our main cameras are 1D Mark III's and 5D's.  We use the finest L Series lenses that complement our style, which allow us the greatest artistic expression. We use portable lighting that enhances any location or lighting situation and allows us to paint and capture amazing light.

We also carry backup cameras, lenses and equipment should the unexpected arise.

Do you accept a list of must-have shots?

Yes, we do. During the planning and consultation meeting prior to the wedding, we listen intently for important moments, items, events and people. We formulate a plan on how to capture these amazing moments.

Who owns the negatives?

All of our clients receive digital negatives on DVD for their own use, if they desire.  All images are released with a shared ownership; meaning we both have the right to use display and print the images.

What should brides be looking for in a wedding photographer?

With all the time and effort that you have put into your wedding day, you will want to know that every facet will be documented. Your wedding is full of one-of-a-kind, one-time-only moments. Don't miss out on a single detail.  The day will fly, moments will pass, and the only way you will remember will be through the imagery captured.

When shopping for a wedding photographer, consider first someone who makes you feel comfortable. The photographer will be privy to many private moments throughout the day so you will want to trust them with not only your photos but with their presence.   We strongly believe we are much more than a vendor you hire for your day.  We are an integral part of the success, beauty, and ease of our weddings.  We take our job very seriously and you will see and feel it as the day unfolds.

What is your payment policy?

We accept cash, check, or credit cards through PayPal.  The balance is due 14 days before the wedding date.  If you wish to use a credit card, a 3% surcharge will be added to your total.  One-third of your total package is due at the time of booking.

When do I get to see the proofs? When will I get my prints?

You'll see your proofs at the wedding!  We are able to show a selection of your wedding day shots at the wedding reception in a slide show, time permitting

An enhanced slide show will be online within seven (7) days and the complete proof set will be complete three weeks after the wedding.

If you have chosen an album package, the printed proofs and album are received about eight weeks after the wedding, depending on the style of album.
